Chaplaincy

About Chaplaincy

On 18th May 2023, we collaborated with Waverley Abbey College to gather hundreds of church leaders to explore how the local church can effectively respond to the mental health crisis.

One key focus of the day was Waverley Abbey’s Contemporary Chaplaincy Programme. At the heart of the training programme is the vision to see a chaplain in every community so that ordinary people across the country have someone who can listen to them and offer a gentle presence in hard times. Chaplains can be placed in schools, sports clubs, offices and gyms. To find out more about the Waverley Abbey Contemporary Chaplaincy Programme, have a read of Jack Palmer-White’s reflections on training to be a sports chaplain.

Moving forward we’re excited about the potential of lay-chaplaincy to change our communities. Watch this space for upcoming details on our work.

The value of GP Chaplaincy
